Day After.

Wednesdays are rough. Newspaper production for the news section is on Tuesday nights, which quickly turn into Wednesday mornings at 3:30 a.m. standing outside my dorm wondering where in the world my keys are.
How much more inconvenient does it get, by the way, than not being able to get into your room at 3:30 in the morning?
Still, I managed to get out of bed in time for a shower before class this morning, a little blessing that I appreciate. Unfortunately, taking a shower meant sacrificing a morning cup of coffee, so class was a doozy. Talking about the continuum of Christ and culture on four hours of sleep isn't exactly riveting discussion.
I've been looking forward to this afternoon all week because I have the time to do what I want - that is, I can get things done. So I'm writing something here instead.
Off to do an interview. Back to work.
I may keep this blog only because its the best possible procrastination tool I know.

  1. I don't do blogs, either, which is why you won't find mine anywhere. But I do find the whole procrastination element to be intriguing and worth pursuing....

I love your descriptions of yourself, Melissa--we all live to some extent in the paradox of contradictions. You're not a blogger and you have a blog. We're both THIS and THAT at that same time, which is what may make each of us so hard to live with at times.

Maybe the key to living joyfully is to embrace, or at least come to terms with, the paradox of who we are rather than to hate ourselves for it. God invites us to examine the contradictions honestly with him; he knows us completely anyway. He transforms us from the inside out and over time the contradictions become less, and we begin to live as joyful, whole people who reflect more purely his character. And maybe we even blog about it.
